Blackberry Ruczaj is floricane-fruiting cultivar from Experimental Station Of The Institute Of Horticulture, Brzezna, Poland.
Ruczaj is vigorous plant without substitution stems. Stems are thick and strong, erect, up to 3 m in length, fully spikeless. New canes are bright green in color, but soon become hardwood.
First ripen berries appear at the middle of August. Fruits of Ruczaj are medium in size, glossy black in color and have oblong shape. Average berry weight is about 5 g. Yield is medium, about 5 kg from plant. Fruit quality is good, firm, transportability is high.
Ruczaj has very good winter hardiness. In south region there is no necessity to use winter shelters. But it is recommended to use light covers like nonwoven materials.
