Mizao is thornless, floricane-fruiting semi-erect blackberry variety with high yield. Ripens in early season. Origin is Institute of Botany, Jiangsu Province and Chinese Academy of Sciences, China. The pedigree include Kiowa blackberry and Hull Thornless cultivars. Fruits are medium-large, has round shape, bright, glossy black color. Fruits flavor is sweet. Fruits firmness is medium, fruits can be easily removed from receptacle. Mizao ripens early to midseason. Mizao cultivar is fully thornless, canes are vigorous, semi-erect. Recommended for machine harvesting for processing. Mizao has very good field tolerance to root rot (Phytophthora fragariae).
