Primocanes emerge with a green color, but quickly assume a red tinge. They are densely armed with fragile thorns (3-5 mm size of each). Primocanes are trailing, may reach up to 9 m in length and up to 25 mm in basal diameter.
Fruit are borne on thorny peduncles, arising from leaf axils along the entire length of the cane and extend beyond the foliage. As fruit enlarge and ripen, the color changes from green to deep red and to shiny purple black when fully ripe. Fruits peaks easily at firm ripe and fully ripe stages. Fully ripe berry tend to soften and lose gloss soon after harvest. Average berry weight is about 7 g, some fruits achieve 10 g. Average yield is about 11 t/ha.
