Blackberry Chief Joseph is a semi-erect variety with flexible canes, thornless. Blackberry Chief Joseph is a vigorous plant with strong canes. Canes can achieve 3-4 m in length. The leaves are medium in size, bright green in color. The flowers are white, large, 3-4 cm in diameter. The roots are long and very strong.
Chief Joseph is middle-late fruiting cultivar. First fruit ripens at the beginning of August. Harvest season continues up to 5-6 weeks. Crop can reach up to 35 kg per plant, highly depend from agrotechnical methods, soil and weather conditions.
Fruit are large and very large - up to 25 g, have rounded shape, glossy black, collected in numerous bunches. Berries flavor is acidic-sweet, vary from weather conditions - rainy, cold and hot weather causes suspension of sugar accumulation. Frequent occurrence is acidic berries during all harvest season, while the weather and other conditions are excellent. Unripen fruit of Chief Joseph are very acidic.
